The Life Update I Promised Is HERE!
Hi! So, I promised you guys an update a few weeks ago and here it is.
As most of you know, I left Kidd Kraddick in the Morning/The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show back in 2019. It was just time. I won’t get into the why’s behind it being time, but it just was. I was ready to do ISR full time because I’ve been a person who believes in doing work that I’m passionate about. I don’t want to just show up for some job to earn a paycheck. That’s not who I am.
I’ve been a Certified ISR Instructor since 2017and I truly love it. However, leaving a full-time job to be self-employed right before a pandemic probably wasn’t the brightest idea I’ve ever had. But I made it work with a LOT of hours, miles on my car, and a lot of lessons in the water.
Here’s the update. I’m still doing ISR lessons, but I’ve also taken on another producing position. A few months back I was offered a job with the Dallas Express Podcast!
I am very excited to be part of this journey because the people I am working with want to make Dallas a better place. When I was younger, I always said that I wanted to do two things when I grew up: work for the KKMS and politics. I’ve done the KKMS and now I feel like I’m kind of getting to stick my big toe into politics a little bit. I don’t want to be a politician…NEVER in this climate. But I do want to be a part of something greater. That’s what drew me to the morning show. Helping people with the platform. Now I have the privilege of working with Sarah and Monty, two people who can truly work towards making a difference in Dallas.
This podcast is still very new and so is the newspaper. I want to be very clear that I work only for the podcast side of things. We try to keep the interviews and stories as centered as possible to bring facts that will elicit change. One of our recent episodes featured Dr. Lavinia Masters, a survivor of rape who has made it her journey in life to change the statute of limitations for victims to come forward with their story. We also talked to Amy Robbins, CEO of Alexo Athletica, who decided that it’s her mission to design EDC fashion for men and women so that they never have to feel powerless in public. After hearing their stories, we did a training exercise with the owner of WOFT (Where Our Families Train). This is a facility in Orlando that teaches people from the ages of 5 and up how to protect themselves in potentially vulnerable situations. That changed my life and never would’ve happened had it not been for this job I’m now doing.
Our episode that dropped on Sunday features Nikki Lockett, a survivor of sex trafficking, and Ty Bowden, the Associate Director of The Net Fort Worth. Nikki has taken her experience as a victim and started her own non-profit to help others. Ty is empowering men to step up and stop seeing women as objects for their gratification. It’s powerful stuff. You can watch that episode here: https://youtu.be/ZEZStbPHvjU?si=PaA9qsUYVYZUWi-Q
We talk about crime, homelessness, and so many other impactful things going on here in Dallas. Then we also have a fun segment in every episode. On our last one, we went in search of the best authentic taco in Dallas. I’ve recently become a vegetarian, but I do think we found a winner. Sarah and Ryan, our videographer, aren’t vegetarian, so they had a different perspective. Check out that episode here: https://youtu.be/sW0FM4B26uQ?si=VoobYP8p1GAoAHj-

A lot of you guys have said that you miss me, so here’s your chance to get a little bit of me. I’ll be on the podcast every now and then. So please, tune in and watch so that we can keep this thing going!
I appreciate the literal decades of love from you guys, and I hope to make you proud with this new endeavor. I’m really excited about the potential of this podcast and what we can do for the City of Dallas.
